Ivancovich family papers, ca. 1860-1984 (bulk 1925-1970)

Summary: Correspondence, business papers, photographs, ledgers and scrapbooks associated with two generations of the Ivancovich family. There is a great deal of personal and family correspondence between 1895 and 1984. Business materials relate to John Ivancovich's grocery wholesale, hardware, and real estate holdings in Tucson. The grocery records include materials about food regulation during World War I. There are materials relating to the Saturday Morning Music Club, the Sunshine Climate Club, Old Pueblo Club, Tucson Chamber of Commerce, and the Tucson Golf and Country Club and concert programs from local theaters. There are scrapbooks of World War II newspaper clippings, social news, and valentines. There are also records of the L. M. Jacobs Company of Tucson, a mercantile and banking operation, dating from 1868 to 1895; and two items from Joseph P. Widney, 1867-1868, apparently collected by Byron Ivancovich. There are typed extracts from San Xavier Mission, San Augustin baptimal records, and Guevavi baptismal records. There are also bills, receipts, and contracts for remodeling of buildings on Congress Street from 1915 to 1937; some contracts are with Henry Jaastad. Photographs show family members, vacation trips, and southwestern missions including restoration of Mission San Xavier del Bac in the 1950s. There are photographs of family members, including portraits by Al Buehman, as well as images of Tucson street scenes, buildings, Ivancovich rental properties, and construction activities on Congress Street in the 1950s. Photographs show the destruction of Solomon Warner's store, 1951, and the Jacobs home, 1954, and the later demolition of the El Conquistador Hotel. A series of images show the San Xavier del Bac Mission and restoration work between 1928 and 1958. There are also images of Hopi villages and Snake Dances taken by Almer Coe & Company of Chicago. Other images include visits to Glen Canyon Dam and Hoover Dam during construction, trips to Yosemite and Machu Picchu, Mexico and other countries, as well as Oracle, Sabino Canyon, White House Canyon, Mount Lemmon, and Tombstone's Helldorado Days. Postcards are present of Arizona and other tourim scenes and photo albums contain images of trips to Mexico and Europe. There are also a few images of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and Yosemite.
